Dr. Gautam Shroff is a professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIITD).
Prior to joining IIITD in Aug 2024, Dr. Shroff has been with TCS Research since 1998 and headed the organization since 2017. Dr. Shroff was also responsible for launching TCS’ co-innovation network of start-up, industry and academic partners, as well as launching and heading TCS’ Architecture and Technology Consulting Practice globally.
Before joining TCS Dr. Shroff had been on faculty of the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, USA as well as the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Troy, NY in 1990.
Dr. Shroff has published over 150 research papers in the areas of computational mathematics, parallel computation, distributed systems, software architecture, software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning. He has written two books “Enterprise Cloud Computing” published by Cambridge University Press, UK, in October 2010, and “The Intelligent Web”, published by Oxford University Press, UK, in 2013.
Dr. Shroff was a member of the AI Task Force constituted in 2017 by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry in the Govt. of India, a member of the Thematic Group for Research constituted to draft the 2020 Science and Technology Innovation Policy of the Govt. of India, as well as a member Governmental Group of Experts constituted by the United Nations in 2017 to examine the impact of lethal autonomous weapons. In 2021 Dr. Shroff was elected as a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE).
A passionate engineering leader who bridges technology, customer and organization complexities. My passion has been creating new products from scratch or scaling products to new heights while maintaining balance of architecture, product thinking and agile principles.
At Avitas systems, I started the engineering group for Software and Robotics to create a SaaS platform for industrial assets inspections by automating, digitizing and fusing historical and newly collected drone/robots data. This platform leveraged massively scalable storage, image analytics, GPU processing and customer facing application using asset 3D models.
At GE Digital, I started company’s flagship product Asset Performance Management, hired and mentored highly motivated and passionate engineering team, and managed the foundation layer of product engineering.
My expertise includes building products including all functions of engineering, QA, DevOps and product management while managing internal and external customer stakeholders, delivering technology for business outcomes, mitigating risk, turning cost centers into profit centers, along with creating an excellent open, transparent culture.
From establishing and executing product vision to driving employees to achieve peak performance levels, I excel at directing business outcomes to align with company objectives while communicating openly and productively across the organization.
Dr. Puneet Agarwal is Co-Founder and CTO of RocketFrog.ai. He has a work experience of 25+ years in the IT Services industry. Earlier he worked as CTO of Zensar Technologies, and as Principal Scientist at TCS Research. At RocketFrog.ai, he has set-up a research lab and mentors a community of deep learning scientists and experts who are eager to make business impact via novel use of technology.
Dr. Agarwal has experience of working in multiple verticals such as: BFSI, Fashion & E-commerce, Consumer Services, Hi-Tech & Manufacturing, Life Sciences, Governments, Utilities, Shipping and Logistics, Telecom etc.
He has published 50+ research papers in IEEE, ACM affiliated conferences, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Knowledge Graphs, Time-Series, and Software Engineering. He also filed 30+ unique patents, which resulted in 200+ global patents when replicated worldwide. He served on the program committee of reputed conferences such as KDD in recent past.
He has a Ph.D. degree from IIT Delhi, in the area of Knowledge graphs, Natural Language Processing, Distributed Parallel Processing, and Deep Learning.

Pankaj is a problem solver who loves developing simple yet highly effective solutions to challenging problems. He has built several high-impact systems across Time Series Analytics (forecasting, classification, regression, anomaly detection, time-to-event), Recommender Systems, and Information Retrieval at Web Scale.
He was conferred with the Young Engineer Award 2021 by the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) for his contributions to machine learning and time series analytics.
Pankaj has published over 30 research papers and 17+ granted patents, with publications at premier international conferences such as ECML-PKDD, ICDM, CIKM, SIGIR, and IJCNN. He has also served as a reviewer for ICML, ICLR, and NeurIPS.
